Mambo Loco By Anibal Velazquez From Analog Africa Courtesy By Discos Fuentes

  1. Amazing grooves from accordionist Anibal Velasquez – a player who really helped transform the sound of Colombian music in the 60s and 70s! This time around, the Analog Africa label makes a shift from its namesake continent, in order to dip into the rich archives of Colombian sounds – to come up with a host of amazing tracks that mix together Anibal's instrument with some raw, highly percussive grooves – often sewn together with bits of guitar or piano, but usually pretty stark, bold, and over the top! There's certainly a trace of familiar cumbia here – but only the roughest variant, as you might hear on a Soundway compilation – and in addition to the wonderful music, the package is great too – loads of notes on Velasquez and his music, vintage photos, and more – plus bonus videos on the CD! Titles include "Los Vecinos", "Cecilia", "Mi Cumbia", "Mambo Loco", "Santo Amor", "El Pechiche", "Cumbia Bogotana", and "Que Paso".
